Richard Garland

Richard Garland is a Managing Director and oversees Ninety One’s Global Advisor business and is head of our Global Financial Institutions Group. This entails working closely with all the regional advisor teams and agreeing and executing the strategic priorities for the global advisor business. Richard also has overall responsibility for the firm’s business in South America and the advisor business in North America. With a wealth of industry experience, Richard has successfully led teams around the world while based in New York and London. He joined Ninety One in 2006, and has held leadership roles across the Americas, Asian, UK and European client groups, including Ninety One’s institutional and advisor business in the Americas.

Prior to joining Ninety One, Richard was CEO of Janus International and was responsible for their business outside the USA. He was also senior vice president at J&W Seligman in New York. Before moving to the USA in 1994 Richard was based in London and worked for Henderson Global Investors, Morgan Grenfell Investment Management and Hambros Investment Management. He graduated from the University of Leeds with a joint honours degree in English and German.
